An ongoing series . . .
While it is often said that no news is good news, this doesn’t seem to be the way Vallejo residents see it regarding Mare Island’s progress. Many people assume that the shortage of news about Mare Island means that nothing is happening, and that’s not so.
I’m amazed when meeting Vallejo residents who ask me if a pass is required to get access and I also meet some who have never been to Mare Island. It’s surprising more people don’t come out to visit this place, to explore history and see a wonderful landscape. For example, the golf course (see pic. Below) is so beautiful, that even non-golfers should rent a cart, to see the views and hidden buildings.
I’ve noticed more articles coming out in the local paper lately, and am wondering if we will be hearing more about what’s going on here, now that LMI is out of bankruptcy. I understand that LMI (Lennar Mare Island) is resuming redevelopment of the Island, and good things are happening on a regular basis. This link shows some of the latest articles on Mare Island in the local paper:

http://www.timesheraldonline.com/news/ci_14835287 (Vallejo owns land near Chapel)
We will be writing more in coming weeks, about many interesting and progressive things happening on Mare Island. There are also so many interesting people living and working on Mare Island. We hope to explore many of these things in coming blogs and we welcome any ideas you may want to submit.
